Our history
Hotel Kaiserhof Vienna
feeling fine! since 1896
When the Kaiserhof Vienna was built on the former Glacis grounds in 1896, it was considered one of the most modern hotels of its time. Innovations such as a guest lift, central heating, electricity and running water in all rooms were a luxurious sensation for the time.
Impressions
An imperial name
Archduchess Marie Thèrese, a close friend of the builder, lobbied her brother-in-law Emperor Franz Joseph I to be allowed to call the hotel the “Kaiserhof”. The name and our values have remained with us. Just like the imperial claim: in a fine city hotel with a Viennese difference.
Permanent development
The Kaiserhof is one of the few hotels in Vienna that has always been family-run – with continuous development over several generations. Starting with the extension by 2 floors, the addition of a winter garden and breakfast room, through to the redesign of the rooms and suites.
